We offer the Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) course at our school in Marietta, Georgia, near Atlanta. Our educational organization, certifying fiber techs since 1995, has global recognition, and its certification is acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Labor. 

 

We train online or in class on weekdays and weekends. Trainees learn the FiberNexxt Way, our method of combining theory, giving session reviews, and providing hands-on skills training in a comfortable setting. With our 99.9 percent pass rate, most students successfully complete the course. What You Need for Our Course

We have minimal requirements, and course features include:​

  • No experience is needed!

  • If you're a classroom student, we provide all the tools and equipment.

  • If you're an online student, purchase our toolkit or buy tools yourself. Ask about our checklist to ensure your purchases meet class requirements. Toolkit cost: $2500. Tools are mandatory for online students but optional for in-class students. The kit will also help you be job-ready on your first day. View our online toolkit below.

What You Learn From Our Course

We specialize in helping you learn the skills used splicing and outside plant location termination. Our training covers:

Basic Cable Prep & Splicing

  • Practice cable preparation

  • Review splicing techniques

  • Perform fusion and mechanical splicing

Basic Connector Termination & Testing

  • Terminate cables and connectors, including mechanical connectors.

  • Test cable for insertion loss.

  • Learn basic troubleshooting strategies.

  • ​Practice basic documentation skills.

Install an In-Class Location

  • Prep and terminate a simulated location

  • Conduct an insertion lost test

  • Complete documentation

FOA Certification Preparation

  • Get theory and skills reinforcement through frequent session reviews.

  • Receive study tips to prepare for the certification exam.

Class Options

You can attend training in our classroom or online, and we offer dates* that fit most schedules. Select your course from the class schedule and keep it on hand to complete your registration form. Online classes start in January 2025.

  • Weekdays (WD). This course usually meets the last week of the month. 

  • Weekends (WND). This class meets the last two weekends of the month. 

  • Classroom (C). These classes meet at our Marietta school location.

  • Online classes (O). These live classes meets over the first two weekends and the second week of the month.

  • One Class at a Time. Break our 4-day class into manageable single sessions that you can spread over weeks, weekends, or months. Pay for each session separately, and take up to 4 months to complete your class.

  • One-on-One Training by Appointment. You may train individually with our FOA-certified instructors.

Taking Our Online Courses

Tools are essential for completing hands-on skills training especially for our online classes. You can purchase our toolkit or purchase tools on your own. Please ask for our checklist so that your tool purchases meet class requirements. With our toolkit, you’ll be equipped for your first job on day one. Registration and Discounts

The last registration day is usually noon, Monday before the first class day. All course fees* include a non-refundable $395 deposit, which holds your seat. Our courses are discounted if you sign up early, as shown below:

  • Standard Course Fee: $1495 in class; $995 online (discounts unavailable for this online course)

  • ​​Super Early Registration. Fee: $1195, in class (no online discount). Register 4 weeks in advance.

  • Early Registration. Fee: $1295, in class (no online discount). Register 2 weeks in advance.
